Blewegrass Apiary is a family of fourth generation beekeepers that provide safer alternatives to hive extermination by safely removing and relocating bees from homes and other locations.
During our visit, we had the opportunity to gain hands-on experience with bees and learn about beekeeping and the role of beekeepers in this issue. The Blewegrass Apiary recently established an apiary in Versailles, Kentucky which consisted of 10 beehives. Our students got to observe the beekeeping process and locate the queen bees in each hive.
This was a very insightful visit because it let us directly interact with people who are witnessing firsthand the effects of environmental conditions on bees. This visit established a connection with our local beekeeping community and provided insight for our podcast. |
